    Learning WML - WAP Basics
This series of articles describes how to provide Web content to mobile devices through WML (Wireless Markup Language). This first article covers the background of WAP, how it works, and what you need to get started. Future articles will introduce the WML language, tips and tricks to provide content, and how to integrate other technologies such as PHP to make your pages more flexible.

Wireless Markup Language (WML) Tutorial - Introduction
This series of articles describes how to provide Web content to mobile devices through WML (Wireless Markup Language). This first article covers the background of WAP, how it works, and what you need to get started. Future articles will introduce the WML language, tips and tricks to provide content, and how to integrate other technologies such as PHP to make your pages more flexible.

    Building dynamic WML sites
Cellular phones supporting WAP are slowly, but constantly spreading. Therefore, it could be time for you to start building your WML pages to access internet databases. As such, we will show you how to build PHP/WML pages to access a MySQL database which contains professors\' receiving hours and exams timetables for a University. I\'m testing a beta service of this kind, prepared with Vitaveska Lanfranchi, at www.scidecom.it .

Adding Wireless Abilities to Existing Macromedia Spectra Applications
This series of articles is not designed to be a primer for WAP (Wireless Access Protocol) and WML (Wireless Markup Language); my colleagues have already covered this area very well. In fact, I recommend reading several articles before continuing on into using Macromedia Spectra along with the wireless Internet:

    Creating VoiceXML Applications With Perl
VoiceXML is an XML-based language used to create Web content and services that can be accessed over the phone. Not just those nifty WAP-enabled \"Web phones\", mind you, but the plain old clunky home models that you might use to order a pizza or talk to your Aunt Mable. While HTML presumes a graphical user interface to access information, VoiceXML presumes an audio interface where speech and keypad tones take the place of the screen, keyboard, and mouse. This month we will look at a few samples that demonstrate how to create dynamic voice applications using VoiceXML, Perl, and CGI.

    Building WML Applications Using PHP
This tutorial is intended for the PHP programmer interested in using PHP to create basic WML pages. The reader is expected to be knowledgeable of MySQL and should be familiar with WML at an introductory level. Wireless Markup Language (WML) is used to communicate with web browsers embedded within wireless devices and is based on XML. WML, which operates via a Wireless Application Protocol (WAP), is rapidly gaining popularity among developers such as AOL and Yahoo. WML/WAP technology is being developed to provide wireless users with games, information and email services, instant messaging, and a variety of other applications.

    Calling A Server Script
Without the ability to perform server transactions, WML would only serve to provide a standardized way to display text on a client. Adding in the ability to dynamically connect to remote servers opens up every WAP device to the world of Internet messaging, enterprise data, and e-commerce. WAP devices interact with these data sources through a WAP gateway as mentioned in our WAP Overview tutorial. This gateway must interface with a carrier such as CDMA, GSM, or GPRS.

    Developing Web Clipping Applications
When people talk about the development of mobile Internet, they often refer to mobile phones (WAP or other), but are less likely to mention Personal Digital Assistants (or PDAs as they are commonly known). What is more, the potential mobile phone market is far greater than the PDA market, as the possible user base is much more open. However, whether we\'re talking Palm Pilots, Psions or Pocket PCs (the former Windows CE), Web applications for PDA are capable of providing far richer, more readable content: the screen surface is greater (14 lines on a Palm VII without reducing the point size). What is more, the browsing experience is not unpleasant for users — the stylus means they can point intuitively at a hypertext link.

Adapt Web Content to Any Device
Use ASP.Net Mobile Controls to generate properly formatted content for any XML language on any device . The proliferation of XML-based markup languages has forced developers to come up with smart options for automatically generating the proper markup for specific devices and delivery methods. For example, a Web-enabled mobile phone running a Wireless Access Protocol (WAP) browser is expecting a form of the Wireless Markup Language (WML). Even though WML is an XML document type, there are still a lot of differences in how individual browsers render WML on different devices.

    WML: An Introduction
In this tutorial, I’ll give a breakdown on just what WAP and WML are and how they can be used. We’ll also run through creating a simple WAP-enabled site making use of multiple cards in a deck. There will be ample code to get you started on developing your own WAP-enabled site, whether for fun or for business. WML & WAP – They’re No University Degrees. WML stands for Wireless Markup Language and is similar to HTML in that tags are used to create pages. However, WML is defined as an XML 1.0 application, and is, therefore, a much more strict language when it comes to coding pages.
