Description: Packages are Java's way of grouping classes together. This isn't much of an issue when you're first starting out. For beginners, it's quite adequate just to compile classes and leave them all in the same directory. Later on, though, when you start to feel like that one directory is getting a tad cluttered, it's a good time to invest a few brain cells in learning about packages.
